The Classical Guitar Society of Northern Ireland was founded in 1989 by a?group of people who wish to promote the classical guitar and its music.

The Society meets once a month in the Ulster College of Music, 13 Windsor Avenue, Belfast and meetings take the form of short recitals, workshops, ensemble playing and discussions. Each year the Society arranges a number of recitals by both local and international performers.

Experienced teachers are always available at meetings to offer advice to anyone interested in taking up the Classical Guitar.

13th Annual Ards International Guitar Festival 2009. Friday 25th September 2009 - Sunday 4th October 2009. Festival Co-ordinators Emily Walsh Tania Lee Calvert. An ecclectic collection of performances, concerts, gigs by artists with a wide range of styles, genres, experience and sounds. Events include free concerts, competitions, workshops, tours and exhibitions. Venues all based in Newtownards including The Queens Hall, Ards Arts Centre, The Ivy Bar and Avalon Guitar Factory. Special performances, unique experiences. for friends, family - all ages all walks of life. Artists include Patricio Zeoli, Kelly Joe Phelps, the Classical Guitar Society, The Winding Stair, Jackson Cage, Siobhan Skates, The Carrivick Sisters, The Broken String Band and final act Warren Reid.
