Classical Guitar with Craig Ogden

For this special workshop, Craig encourages students to bring any musical pieces they have problems with, ‘so we can look at issues as a group and discuss fixes.’ Craig will spend some time focusing on right-hand technique and will bring some copies of exercises for everyone to work from.

Craig will also discuss practice technique – and perhaps use examples in material brought by the students to illustrate. ‘We might also touch on posture, breathing and relaxation, performance psychology and positive thinking, left hand position and technique,’ he adds.

Fingerstyle Guitar with Thomas Leeb

As well as being a mesmerising performer, Thomas Leeb is also an extremely generous and well-loved tutor. He has run workshops and boot camps throughout the world, and his Boot Camps at the Leeb ranch in California have become legendary.

This workshop offers a chance for emerging guitar talents to find out more about Thomas’ techniques and approach to the instrument. Thomas will introduce participants to open tunings and multi-layered grooves and riffs in fingerstyle guitar.

Ragtime Guitar with Clive Carroll

Clive Carroll offers a workshop in the world of ragtime – with the chance to learn an entire tune in an hour…! In this introduction to the wonderful rag style of playing, students will learn Clive’s ‘Montreal Rag’ – which uses an alternating-string thumb technique.

For those who want to further develop their individual interpretations, Clive will also be bringing variations which incorporate arpeggios, walking bass lines and more! The workshop is geared toward players with at least a couple of years of experience playing fingerstyle guitar.

In this unique and intimate classical guitar clinic Daniel will guide participants through his daily warm up routine and will highlight the most important elements of his classical guitar techniques.

In the latter half of this Clinic participants who are willing to play some pieces of their repertoire will benefit from peer critique and advice from Daniel.

Daniel will also talk through the processes involved in the recording of the classical guitar for his latest album.

Technique Q&A with Martin Simpson

Martin’s guitar workshop is open to players of all levels – you just have to be desirous of learning.

Come armed with as many questions as you can think of to do with the guitar, and immerse yourself in all things guitar-related for a couple of hours. The workshop will be completely question-led and will not involve anyone – except Martin – playing in front of anyone else during the workshop.

Martin is often working on new arrangements at the time of his workshops, and is happy to demonstrate how he chooses songs or starts to work on tunes and original ideas. Above all though, the workshop is determined by the things participants want to talk about – and everyone from beginners to professionals come away inspired and energised by the experience!


Participants are not required to bring a guitar
