This unique tour provides visitors with an insight to the production line of the hand crafted guitar. The guide will take you through the various sections of the factory demonstrating the step by step processes, from timber preparation to the stringing and tuning of the infamous Avalon guitar.

An Introduction to Flamenco for Guitarists

This is a workshop for guitarists of all genres and abilities who wish to be introduced to some of the rudiments of the flamenco guitar.

Whether you are interested in going on to study flamenco yourself, or whether you would like to enrich your playing in other styles with some elements of flamenco, this insight into one of the great European folk traditions promises to be an eye and ear opener.

The search is on for the Young Guitarist of the Year!

Compositions can be original, cover versions or re-arrangements performed on electric or acoustic guitar. Entrants have the option to sing though not a must. Judgement is based on composition and technique.

This year's winner will receive a prize to the value of £500 courtesy of Matchett's Music, Belfast and the chance to open the Weekend Wind Down, Sunday 2nd October, at the Ards International Guitar Festival.

Entries must be received by is Friday 17th September 2011. Submit your entry online by sending your youtube videolink or by post to the Ards Arts Centre, Town Hall, Conway Sq., Newtownards, County Down, BT23 4NP (T: +44 (0)28 9181 0803).

4 finalists will be selected. 3 by our panel of judge, 1 through the people's choice.

The 4 finalists will perform publicly on Wednesday 28th September at Molly Brown's, 9pm.

We want to see as many people down supporting the event and the performers as possible! Molly Brown's will have drinks promos going on and entry is FREE!
